Tula is the administrative center of the Tula region. The city with a population of about 500 thousand people is located on the Central Russian upland on the banks of the Upa River, a tributary of the Oka, and is included in the list of the 50 largest cities in Russia. Tula is located 170 kilometers south of Moscow. Federal highways Moscow-Crimea and Kaluga-Tula-Ryazan pass through the city and in the immediate vicinity of it.
