Malta is located in the heart of the Mediterranean just 80 km from Sicily and 284 km from Tunisia.

When we talk about Malta, we often refer to the Republic of Malta, a member of the European Union.
The archipelago is composed of the islands Calipsee (archipelago of Malta) which are: Malta, Gozo and Comiso but there are also the islets Cominotto, Filfola and Filfoletta, Islands of San Paolo, Manoel Island and Rocca del Generale.

Malta’s geographical position has always attracted the greatest civilizations of the Mediterranean and Europe. Malta has seen the succession of Phoenicians, Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Arabs, Normans, Aragonese, Knights of Malta, French and English. So much so that the identity of the Maltese has taken on very multifaceted characteristics, both culturally and linguistically, and this makes these islands truly fascinating and very rich in history, despite often being labeled only as “tourist and leisure resorts for teenagers”.

The official languages in Malta are Maltese (which in many ways resembles Arabic, but has a very particular, unique sound) and English, but Italian is spoken by many people (apparently at least 60% of the population) and until 1934 it was the official language of Malta (although it was mostly spoken by bureaucrats). From personal experience I can tell you that if they understand that you are Italian they will prefer to answer you in our language, despite the fact that for them it is clearly easier and more immediate to communicate in English.

In Malta the average annual temperature is among the highest in Europe(about 19 C The Maltese climate is excellent, with mild (but rainy) winters and hot and dry summers, mitigated by the sea breeze. You manage to swim quietly until the whole of October.
5) UNESCO SITES IN MALTA
There are three World Heritage Sites: the City of Valletta, the Hypogeum of Hal Saflieni and the Megalithic Temples. There are seven megalithic temples that testify to a unique architectural tradition, which flourished on the Maltese Islands between 3600 and 2500 BC: Ta’ Hagrat, Skorba, Hagar Qim, Mnad The two temples of Ggantia
These temples prove that the island was inhabited at least 1000 years before the construction of the pyramids of Giza. The temple of Ħ AarAr Qim, which dates back about 5000 years, is one of the oldest and best preserved limestone temples in Malta.
6) THE ENGLISH GUIDE
English rule began in 1800 and lasted until 1964. Despite this in Malta you still drive on the left.
7) IN MALTA THE FAIRY TALE OF CINDERELLA BECOMES REALITY
The Verdala Palace, dating back to the 16th century, is the summer residence of the President of the Republic of Malta and is therefore generally closed to the public except during the August Moon Ball, which takes place on the first Saturday of the month. 8) NATURAL BEAUTY AND LEGENDS OF MALTA
The island of Gozo offers many breathtaking landscapes and mysterious places. The Azure Window (Azureindindo o or It-Tieqa malt -erErqa in Maltese) is an impressive stone arch with a flat top that was formed as a result of the collapse of two giant limestone caves.
While the Cave of Calypso (Calp Pso Cave) is said to be the cave that Homer described in the Odyssey. The cave itself is not much, but the landscape that surrounds it is magnificent and uninhabited, because of the legend that tells that inside the cave there is still the spirit of Ulysses who manifests his presence producing strange lamentations.
9) VALLETTA IS THE CAPITAL OF CULTURE (NOT ONLY IN 2018)
The most inhabited city in the Republic of Malta is Birkirkara but the capital is Valletta, which, according to UNESCO, with its 300 monuments concentrated in an area of 1.8 km2 stands as one of the richest places in the world in historical evidence. The capital is closely linked to the history of the Military and Charitable Order of St. John of Jerusalem and in 2018 will be the European Capital of Culture.
10) EVERYONE WANTS TO VISIT MALTA
In 2014 Gozo was the most searched for tourist destination on google by Italians and in July of the same year Malta International Airport recorded the record air traffic ever with over 511,000 passengers.
