What County is Lawton?
Even today, the city of Lawton, founded in 1901, and the adjacent giant Fort Sill Military Reservation form a symbiosis. Fort Sill was one of the most important military facilities in the West. Many remains point to the more or less peaceful coexistence between the military and the Indians in the Wichita Mountains. The great Indaina chief Geronimo is buried in Fort Sill. Anadarko himself calls himself the “Indian capital of the US”, but the city is pretty comercial. Anadarko is one of the poorest cities in the state. Marlow was once the capital of the Outlaws, today in the peaceful city a monument commemorates more moving days. In Carnegie you will find an interesting Museum of the Kiowas. Apache is home to one of the most famous brands of Western shirts, Mo’Betta.
