Where is Rancagua Located?

The capital of the Región del Libertador General Bernardo O’higgins is located about 85km south of Santiago. Rancagua is located in a fertile plain on the Río Cachapoal. This level is used intensively in agriculture-cultivated mainly wine, apples, sunflower, tobacco, tomatoes and corn.

In the heart of the city you will find the beautiful Plaza de Los Héroes with numerous shady trees and several streets with colonial houses. On the south side of the Plaza stands the remarkable Cathedral with two towers. A block of houses north of the Plaza is the church “La Iglesia de La Merced de Rancagua” from 1758.

The Historical Museum “Museo Histórico”, housed in a colonial mansion, displays religious collections and furniture from the 19th century.

In the “Casa de la Cultura” temporary exhibitions of various artists are shown and in the Station you can discover a small gallery with pictures of local painters to buy.
