Myakka River State Park is one of the largest and oldest state Parks in Florida. It is located approximately 14 km east of Interstate 75 in Sarasota County’s western part of Central Florida.

Through the Myakka River State Park flow 22 km of the Myakka River, which is under protection in Florida. There are also two lakes in the Park, Upper Myakka Lake and Lower Myakka Lake. For visitors to the State Park, however, only Upper Myakka Lake is to be visited and Lower Myakka Lake can only be visited with a granted special permit. State Road 72 runs through Myakka River State Park from East to West.
