Where is Volos Located?

Volos is located in Greece (Nomós Magnisías, Thessaly) in the time zone of Europe/Athens. Places of interest in Néa Ionía, Agriá and Néa, are Anchiálos.

What Country is Volos in?

The port city of Volos is the capital of the Prefecture of Magnesia and with over 85,000 inhabitants and is the fifth largest city of Greece. Viewed from the map, the city lies quite close between Thessaloniki in the North and Athens in the south, at the foot of the Pelion peninsula.

Volos-the gate to Pelion. In recent years, Tangier National Road 6 has become a motorway. In the direction of Velestina, this road leads to Highway 1, which makes it easy to reach both Thessaloniki (215km) and Athens (326 km).
Due to this good road connection, but also by the railway connection as well as the 30 km southwest of the city located Nea Anchialos small airport – which is also accessible from Germany since May 2008 (see arrival to Pelion) – Volos is considered the gateway to Pelion.
