Where is Pacific Ocean?
The Pacific Ocean is the largest and deepest ocean on Earth. The Pacific ocean lies between the American continent and Asia, and Australia. With its secondary oceans, the ocean covers an area of 181, 34 million km2.
This is more than a third of the earth’s surface and half of the water surfaces of the earth. The Pacific is now known for its powerful tropical cyclones, such as hurricanes and typhoons. In addition, the climate phenomenon El Niño occurs in the Pacific region at intervals of several years.
The name of the Pacific is derived from the adjective Pacific (peaceful). The first European sailors, including the famous sailor Ferdinand Magellan, gave this name to the ocean when they found it during a circumnavigation behind Cape Horn in serene and calm weather.
