Fort McMurray, the richest city in all of America, from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego-and, according to some estimates, of the Earth-was being evacuated last night as a forest fire that had already razed nearly 900 square kilometers of boreal forest-the so – called taiga-advanced through its streets destroying everything in its path. Some 2,000 houses have already been destroyed, although not a single one has been seriously injured.
