Where is Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area?

Utah is a state with an impressive wealth of scenic Highlights. Arches, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Zion, Bryce, Grand Staircase, etc., The list could almost endless continue. The absolute madness!

However, almost all world-class sights are located in southern Utah, the further north you get, the more unspectacular the scenery in the Mormon state becomes.

However, in the extreme northeast of Utah (and in the extreme southwest of Wyoming) with the Flaming Gorge NRA a treasure of nature has hidden, almost as if Utah would like to give the traveler a little souvenir on the way: “come again – it is nowhere as beautiful as here!”

The main attraction is the Flaming Gorge Reservoir, created by the damming of the Green River, which is especially attractive for water sports enthusiasts and anglers (and all other heat-affected people).

The water is also refreshingly cool in the summer, which I liked to convince myself of in the hot July 2009, when we were on the transit from Dinosaur National Monument to Yellowstone National Park.
