Where is Cuenca Located?

The gorges of two rivers separate the old town from the surrounding area. The city’s landmarks are the Casas Colgadas, the” hanging houses ” over the deep valley of the river Huécar.

Cuenca, the capital of the province of the same name, is located at an altitude of 946 m and has about 56,000 inhabitants. While the new town (Ciudad Nueva) with all the central facilities is in the plain, it goes on partly steep stairs up to the historic Old Town (Ciudad Vieja). This is a UNESCO world heritage site.
