Located in northwestern Africa, Morocco borders the Strait of Gibraltar and the Mediterranean Sea to the north, Mauritania to the south, Algeria to the east, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west.

The Moroccan coast stretches for 3500 km. it is characterized by mountainous or desert areas and is one of the only countries – along with Spain and France – to have coasts on the Mediterranean Sea on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other.
