What Continent is Caribbean in?

Is the Caribbean in Africa or South America?

The Caribbean is all those countries that are washed by the Caribbean Sea that is, all the islands of the Antilles, the Bahamas and the coastal areas of the eastern part of Central and South America that are located on the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico. The Bahamas archipelago is divided between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.

The Caribbean Islands

The islands of the Caribbean number almost 7000 and are divided into three archipelagos:

Bahamas Archipelago with Turks and Caicos: The Bahamas consists of almost 700 islands in addition to the Turks and Caicos Islands
Greater Antilles: of which Cuba ,am
Lesser Antilles: They are located east of the Greater Antilles, the largest of which is Trinidad

1. The Caribbean Islands: the Bahamas archipelago with Turks and Caicos

The Bahamas is one of the most important summer holiday resorts in the world; the archipelago attracts more than five times its tourist population each year. The largest and most equipped islands are 16, the capital of the Bahamas is Nassau, in these beautiful islands with pink sand and crystal clear waters are very popular large all-inclusive resorts, the main activities in the Bahamas are water sports, fishing, snorkeling, sailing and shopping.

2. Caribbean Islands: the Greater Antilles

Looking at the map of the Caribbean islands we can easily understand why they can be divided into these three groups: Bahama, Greater Antilles and Lesser Antilles. The Greater Antilles are in fact composed of the largest islands and consist of Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Jamaica and Puerto Rico. Along the arc of the Lesser Antilles there are about 20 active volcanoes. Cuba is the largest island in the Caribbean, it is characterized by a landscape of hills composed mainly of limestone while bays, lagoons and swamps are typical elements of its coastal landscape. Haiti and the Dominican Republic are a single island, the island of Hispaniola and is located between Cuba and Puerto Rico. The country has three large mountain ranges. Jamaica is about 600 km from Central America, it is a mountainous island surrounded by a small coastal plateau. Puerto Rico is of volcanic origin; it is mountainous in the interior, while the vast plains carved by river currents characterize the coasts of Puerto Rico.
