Where is Turkmenabat Located?
A metropolis made entirely of marble, a fire that has been burning for 45 years or the ruins of the more than 4000-year-old city of Merw: Turkmenistan has a lot of impressive sights to offer. In this post you will find all the information you need for an individual journey by train through Turkmenistan.
What Country is Turkmenabat in?
Turkmenistan is one of the countries that probably appear at the top of the holiday list. Hardly anyone knows this small country in Central Asia, which is located between Iran and Uzbekistan. And of those who actually come to Turkmenistan, at least the individual travellers may choose the train as a means of transport within the country.
Train travel in Turkmenistan is safe, comfortable and above all incredibly cheap. For about 5 euros, for example, you travel in a comfortable sleeping car from the capital Ashgabat to Turkmenabat in the north of the country. On the way, we recommend a stopover in Mary: just a few kilometers outside the desert city, you will discover the impressive ruins of the old Merw.
