The Stdat is separated from the eponymous Canadian town in Ontario by the St. Mary’s River, it is connected to the other shore but opened by the 1962 Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge. One of the largest locks in the world was built to ensure shipping traffic between Lake Superior and Lake Huron.
