The main gate to the High Tatras and the centre of the rapidly developing Region, at the foot of the Tatra mountains is the city of POPRAD.

POPRAD (52,765 inhabitants) is located in the southeast of the eponymous Valley and on both banks of the eponymous river. It is the main gate to the High Tatras. The Poprad airfield, the railway station and the access roads are visited every year by tens of thousands of tourists from Slovakia and abroad, from here on to Starý Smokovec or other Tatras.
