The history of the Oregon Zoo began in 1888 with the purchase of a brown bear and a grizzly, which were housed in Washington Park in Portland, Oregon. After only a few years, the stock of the animal park had expanded to more than 300 animals. Today, visitors can get to know the most diverse habitats and their inhabitants in six thematic areas.
