The Museum of Science in Boston strives to bring science and technology topics closer to the public. The Museum offers a wide range of exhibitions and programs to attract the attention of visitors in an attractive urban environment.

For many years, the visitor experience was primarily characterized by a three-story, simply glazed curtain wall that connected the main foyer of the museum with nature. The glass facade gave visitors an unobstructed view of the Charles River. At certain times of the day and season, however, the view from the window front was impaired by excessive sunlight and heat.

“Sometimes it was unbearable,” says Paul Ippolito, director of Facilities. “Especially in the winter months, when the strahlende sun completely flooded the Hall, the visitors were so blinded that it restricted their view. This also massively affected the visitor experience.“
