Kingston is a historic city in Ontario, Canada, located in the Quebec-Windsor Corridor at the eastern end of Lake Ontario, where the lake flows into the St. Lawrence River and where the Thousand islands begin.
The central part of the city is located between the Cataraqui River to the east and the quebrada del pequeño Cataraqui to the west, with areas extending in both directions. Kingston is the county seat of Frontenac County. According to the 2001 Canadian census, the population of the city was 114,195. Kingston is known as the “Limestone City” because of its many historic buildings built with this type of locally sourced grey stone.
