Where is Hadera Located?

The Israeli small town, located about 40 kilometers north of Tel Aviv, has been friendly with Nuremberg for 25 years. When I visited Hadera for the first time in the spring of 1989, I was already curious as to why this inconspicuous municipality of all places should now belong to the exquisite circle of Nuremberg’s Twin Cities. On the way North I had to change trains in Hadera. The dreary bus station made little appetite for an exploratory trip. But since I had time, I decided to stay in the city for a night. However, I had to revise this decision immediately. There was no Hotel in Hadera. So I took the next Bus and it was to be many years before I paid the city another visit.

What Country is Hadera in?

More than twenty years have passed. Much has not changed in Hadera. The huge fireplaces of the monumental power plant “Orot Rabin Power Site” nearby still dominate the landscape. In Israel, which is relatively small in terms of area, there are hardly any opportunities to separate industry and residential areas. By constant immigration, the population of the Jewish state is constantly growing. New residential areas have also emerged in Hadera. Almost 80,000 residents now live here. Most of them come from Ethiopia or the former Soviet republics. The city developed into a multicultural melting pot.
