Where is Foumban Located?

The city of Foumban is located in western Cameroon, 70 km northeast of Bafoussam and is the capital of the kingdom of Bamoun.

With an area of approximately 7700 km2 and 820 000 inhabitants, the Bamoun Region covers more than half of Western Cameroon. Foumban has two religions that coexist harmoniously with each other, there is no religious quarter – everywhere are found both Christians and Muslims. The craft sector is by far the most important source of income and employs a large number of Foumban population. Many tourists flock every year to Foumban to see the sights of the city.

What Country is Foumban in?

The city of Foumban has two great museums, the Museum of the Palace and the Museum of arts and crafts. The Museum of art and his more than three thousand works of art and historical pieces telling the story of one of the oldest kingdoms in Africa. Some of these pieces are more than 600 years old. Here, visitors will get deep insights into the treasures, traditions, art and culture of this kingdom. Around the Museum, artisans produce and sell a wide range of imitations of historical artifacts as modern creations.
