The enchanting historic centre of Santa Ana de Coro, on the Northern coast of Venezuela is one of the oldest cities in the country and was the first diocese of South America. The city centre, originally preserved from colonial times, and the historic port of La Vela del Coro are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Santa Ana de Coro, also known as Coro, is located in the Venezuelan federal state of Falcón on the north coast of Venezuela on the Gulf of Coro in the Caribbean Sea. Santa Ana de Coro (Coro means Wind in the language of the Arawak Indians) was known until 1547 under the name Neu-Augsburg and capital of the Welser colony Klein-Venice.
