Where is Chimbote Located?

The city of Chimbote is located on the Pacific coast in Northern Peru, approximately 430 km North of Lima. With about 330,000 inhabitants, it is the largest city in the Ancash Region. The city is known as a fishing centre, as well as for its steel industry and its port, however, the traveller has to offer through its beautiful location especially in the vicinity of some attractions.

Chimbote is located on the beautiful Bay of El Ferrol on the Pacific between two rocky islands. The Bay is situated in front of Isla Blanca, a bright white island. The city is flat except for the hilly and rocky area around the two islands. To the south of the city centre, the river Río Lacramarca flows into the Pacific, in the valley of which there is only a small amount of Agriculture.
