Çeşme, a small port town on the tip of the homonymous Peninsula, is far from Izmir is only about 90 km from the Greek island of Chios, there is a daily ferry service, but only 20km.

In the late Middle Ages, Genoa occupied the Region, from 1422 Çeşme then fell to the Ottoman Empire. Çeşme gained historical significance in 1770 when the Ottoman fleet was destroyed by the Russian in a three-day sea battle.
Çeşme is a resort with a very long Tradition. Already 3,000 years ago, it was a popular resort because of its mild, oxygen-rich air and the sulphur-containing thermal springs. Çeşme has retained this touch of exclusivity and has so far been spared from mass tourism.
