In Casper, former US Vice President Richard Bruce “Dick” Cheney grew up. In January 2005, Guy V. Padgett III was elected mayor of a U.S. city for the first time. The city of Riverton is located in the Wind River Indian Reservation. Evansville, a suburb of Casper, is one of the poorest places in Wyoming.
