Where is Cachi, Argentina Located?

Located between Salta (170km) and the wine town of Cafayate (160km), the village of Cachi (Quechua “salt”) was founded by the Diaguitas before the arrival of the Spaniards. The former inhabitants used the water of the rivers Río Cachi and the Calchaquí for their agricultural terrace cultures. In the summer it is very hot in Cachi with temperatures beyond the 35°C mark. The winters are pleasantly mild at around 25°C daily high temperature, although there may be Frost at night.

All travellers who take the several-hour drive from Salta or Cafayate on a well-fortified gravel road will be impressed. The beautiful scenery in the Valles Calchaquíes, the whitewashed mud houses and the sights will delight you, because even the approach itself is a highly impressive experience.
