Armenia is a city in Colombia and it is the capital of the Quindío district. The population of Armenia amounts to 292,008 people. The city was founded in 1889 by the man Jesús María Ocampo who was known for his passion to hunt Jaguars. He came to hide in the mountains of the Quindío district and bought Land to build a settlement in the area. The name Armenia is said to honor the Armenians who were killed in the massacres of the Ottoman Empire in 1894-97.
