Where is Alcatraz Located?

In addition to the Golden Gate Bridge, the prison island of Alcatraz at the gates of San Francisco, California, is one of the city’s most legendary attractions. Alcatraz is located in the Bay of San Francisco, is 8.5 hectares, about 500 meters long and up to 41 meters high.

As operating costs grew, Alcatraz prison was abandoned in 1963. After the closure of the maximum security prison, the island was also the scene of many Hollywood blockbusters.
