Where is Akron Zoo Located?

The history of Akron Zoo dates back to 1953. At that time, the Akron Children’s Zoo was created with the support of the Museum of Natural History, which represented various of the well-known Mother-Goose rhymes with lively animals.

The first real enclosure of today’s zoo, Monkey Island, was opened in 1960. Today, the Zoo houses more than 700 animals, including endangered species such as Humboldt penguins, snow leopards, Sumatran tigers and jaguars.
