Flag of Tuvalu

Tuvalu is a sovereign constitutional monarchy in the Pacific Ocean that geographically corresponds to the Ellice Islands archipelago, formerly known as its central island (now Funafuti).

It is located in the north of Fiji. These islands are coral with the structure of the atolls. The total area is no more than 26 km2, inhabited by nearly 11,800 inhabitants (2006). The nine main atolls are : Nanomea or Saint-Augustin, Hudson or Nanomaga, Lynx or Speiden, Nui Eg or Niederland, Vaitoupou or Tracy, Noukoufetau or de Peyster, Funafuti or Ellice, Noukoulaïlaï or Mitchell, Sophia or independence.
