Where is Eskilstuna Located?

Eskilstuna is quite lively and with almost 70,000 inhabitants a real city, the largest in Sörmland. In fact, Eskilstuna located in Sweden, list of the largest cities in 17th place. Thanks to a popular and fast-growing University (Mälardalens högskola) it also attracts many young people to Eskilstuna.

What Country is Eskilstuna in?

For my one-week tour around the Mälaren, I set up my base camp at the hotel Bolinder Munktell, located in the former industrial area of Munktellstaden. Today, this district is home to a Science Center, a large indoor pool, a multi-purpose sports hall (Stiga Sports Arena), an industrial museum, an art museum and a conference centre. Fortunately, the original brick romanticism has been preserved.

Johan Theofron Munktell had built a mechanical workshop here in the 19th century, which grew around 1880 to one of the largest Swedish companies. Later, Munktell was, among other things, a production site for Volvo Construction machines.
