Where is Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park?
How much does it cost to get into Homosassa Springs?
If you want to experience Manatees live and up close, Homosassa Springs is the right place. At Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park, animals that have been exposed or injured in the past are taken in and cared for. Among them are many Manatees, who are nursed back to health after accidents.
To get in the right mood for visiting the park, it is recommended to start the Tour with a small boat ride from the Visitor Center to the park entrance. There begins the circular hiking trail passing several animal enclosures. Here you can observe native animals such as the Florida Panther, Flamingos, and many bird species.
The Highlight, however, is the underwater observatory on the edge of the 17m Deep Spring pot of Homosassa Springs. Through large panoramic windows, Manatees can be observed in their natural environment. The animals are very trusting and come close to the discs, so that you get the impression that you would swim with them. Anyone who falls in love with these warm-hearted creatures has the opportunity to become a sponsor.
