Is Turkey part of Asia Or Europe?

Turkey is one of the few countries in the world located on 2 Continents, in Asia and minimally in Europe (about 3% of the territory) and is therefore considered an Asian state, in the Middle East region, excluding Thrace, included in the Balkan Peninsula.

The total area is 783,562 Km2, more than two and a half times that of Italy, while the inhabitants are more than 84 million, with 18% of them living in the urban area of Istanbul, by far the largest Turkish city, even if the capital is Ankara, which at the time of the birth of the country, in 1923, had just 35,000 inhabitants, now just over 5 million; almost the entire population is of Muslim faith.

Turkey borders 8 states, Bulgaria and Greece on the European side to the west, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Georgia, Armenia and for a short distance Azerbaijan in the Asian part, to the south and east; the first administrative level is composed of the provinces, 81 in all.

The territory consists mainly of the Anatolian Plateau, which rises progressively towards the east, up to heights around 2,000 meters, surrounded and crossed by several mountain ranges (Tauri and Pontic Mountains the most articulated), which culminate in the easternmost end of the country in Mount Ararat (5,137 m), with the other major peaks reaching 3,500/4,000 meters.
