What Continent is San Marino in?
Is San Marino in Asia Or Europe?
In the heart of Italy, on the border between Emilia Romagna and Marche, the Republic of San Marino extends for 61.196 km2. It is the third smallest country in Europe, behind only the Principality of Monaco and the Vatican City.
Mount Titano with its three “pens” represents the symbol of the country, marks the beginning of the Tuscan-Romagna Apennines and, with its 755 meters above sea level, is the highest point of the country. In fact, the mountain has an unusual configuration for the surrounding area which is predominantly hilly. It is in fact a calcareous-arenaceous rock, a remnant of the crushing, dating back to twenty million years ago, of a large underwater plate. Other fragments gave life instead to the mountains today baptized Della Verna, Simoncello, Fumaiolo, San Leo.
From the Titano are born some streams that cross the territory of San Marino and flow into the Marano and the Marecchia which, after just over twenty kilometers, flow into the Adriatic Sea: the first in Riccione, the second in Rimini.
The Marano is born on the border of the Republic of San Marino, from Monte Ghelfa, and crosses Montegiardino and Faetano.
The Rio San Marino was born in the Marche and crosses the castles of Fiorentino, Chiesanuova and Acquaviva.
Ausa rises on the slopes of Mount Titano, where it is called Fosso della Flocca, and crosses Serravalle, Domagnano and Borgo Maggiore.
Fiumicello was born in the Republic, the distance from the Fiumicello, a tributary of the Marano, to the Molino Frati di Acquaviva, is the widest stretch of the San Marino territory: 8.75 km.
The lowest point of the village is in Falciano, Serravalle, 55 meters above sea level.
