What Continent is Finland in?
Is Finland part of Asia Or Europe?
Finland is a parliamentary republic; the capital is Helsinki; it has been part of the European Union since 1995. Finland is bordered to the north by Norway, to the west by Sweden and to the east by Russia; it is washed to the south and west by the gulfs of Finland and Bothnia, two joints of the Baltic Sea.
Finland, located to the east of the Scandinavian Peninsula, is mostly flat and rich in lakes surrounded by dense forests.
The reliefs are modest, deeply shaped and rounded by the ice that once covered the entire Scandinavian region. Isolated peaks reaching 700-800 meters above sea level, called tunturi, are located in the far north of the country, in Lapland ( a region straddling Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia). In the south-central region stretch the vast plains, which are covered with layers of pebbles and sands carried by glaciers and deposited during their melting. The coastal plain is a strip about 40 kilometers wide, perfectly flat, barely engraved by the grooves dug by the mouths of the rivers.
