Port-Au-Prince. It is the capital of the Republic of Haiti, founded by the French in 1749 on ancient minor settlements, and owes its name to the ship “Le Prince” commanded by Monsieur Saint André who docked in the port of the city located between the Gulf of Gonâve and the Bay of Port-au-Prince.
