Flag of Paraguay

Paraguay is a landlocked state of South America, located on the river of this name, in the center of the continent, between Brazil in the North and East, Argentina in the South and West, Bolivia in the Northwest.

It is a constitutional republic of 406,750 km2, divided administratively into 17 departments (departamentos; singular: departamento) and a capital city, Asuncion. Other important cities are : Villarrica, Corolel Oviedo, Caaguazu, Encarnacion. The total population is 7 million inhabitants (2009).
