Flag of Guyana
The Republic of Guyana is located between Venezuela in the West, Suriname in the East and Brazil in the South. It has an area of 215,000 km2 and a population of 770,000.
From the Orinoco to the Corentyne, the coasts of Guyana are uniformly low with a border of mangroves, which, however, were cleared between Essequibo and Berbice. There are few islands, no seaports and, on the coast, a muddy and shallow sea; this is, moreover, the characteristic of the whole coast of the Guyanes.
