Where is the Acropolis Museum?

The New Acropolis Museum preserves and exhibits the artifacts of the Acropolis, showing its history and its role in Antiquity, as the religious center of Athens.

Located just 300 meters from the Acropolis, the museum is an important contemporary architectural work.

Constructed of steel, glass and concrete over an area of 14,000 square meters, the building makes the most of natural light, to highlight the 4,000 pieces on display.

The top floor of the museum was built in an original way, with the same size as the Parthenon and deviated by 23º

The Acropolis Museum displays a large collection of pieces belonging to the different monuments of the Acropolis. In the exhibition you can see, under the glass floor, some finds of the ancient city, many sculptures and classic pieces, belonging to the Acropolis, and some fragments of buildings such as the Propylaea, the Temple of Athenea Nike and the Erechtheion.

In the Parthenon Hall, on the first floor of the building, there are some of the most important objects, namely those that belonged to the monument. Among the most admired pieces of the museum, there are the Caryatids, robust statues of beautiful priestesses, which in the past were the columns of the Erechtheion.

The most important museum in Athens
The Acropolis is the main attraction of the Greek capital and its museum, where a large part of the treasures of the sacred mountain are exhibited, has become the most important and visited exhibition center in Athens.
