Alexander the Great was a general in Ancient Greece. His father was King Philip II of Macedon. His empire included far larger territories than present-day North Macedonia, namely also the whole of Greece.
In adolescence, Alexander was temporarily taught by Aristotle. He was one of the most famous and influential philosophers and naturalists in history. Already at the age of 16, his father made him the commander of an army. In 336 BC, he became king of Macedonia at the age of 20, when his father was murdered.
