What country does the Black Sea belong to?
The Black Sea is located in a strategic area, between Asia Minor and Southeastern Europe, and has caused various wars over the centuries for its control. This inland sea bathes Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Georgia, Ukraine and Russia. In addition, via the Bosphorus it meets the Mediterranean. It connects with the Sea of Azov through the Ker Strait. Its surface area is about 436,402 km2 and has an average depth of 1253 meters. The deepest point reaches 2212 meters, while in the center 1830 meters. From it you can access the Volga and the Don through canals; not only rivers, but also to the Baltic Sea, the Caspian Sea, the White Sea and the North Sea across the Danube. The climate of this area is Atlantic, influenced by variations in the North Atlantic Oscillation. Its maximum distance from East to West measures about 1175 km. Its minimum extension is the one that runs from Cape Kerempe to the tip of Crimea and measures about 260km. Its salinity today is about 17%. The most important rivers flowing into the Black Sea are the Dnieper, Danube, Rioni, Southern Buh and Kizilirmark.
The Black Sea was created from the Sarmatic Sea, a water source that had been created from a separation from the Mediterranean Sea over the centuries. With its progressive regression it was divided into: Black Sea, Caspian Sea and Aral Sea. These, periodically, due to evaporation suffered decreases in the amount of water. About eight thousand years ago, the Black Sea ended up reconnecting to the Mediterranean and increased its levels. The salt water coming from the sea then joined the sources of fresh water coming from the afferent rivers. According to scientists, the lower layers of the Black Sea turn out to be dead at the biological level, as ventilation is practically zero. It is the third sea in Europe where geopolitical attention is concentrated, precisely because of its strategic position. Bathing different states and communicating with other seas becomes an important point for energy transport, therefore, it assumes great economic importance for the various countries.
