What Continent is Rwanda in?
Is Rwanda in Asia Or Europe?
Located just south of the equator in East Africa, Rwanda is one of the smallest countries on the continent and has no outlet to the sea. Its green and mountainous territory is located at a rather high altitude, with the lowest point at more than 900 meters above sea level. Rwanda’s western border is marked by Lake Kivu and the Virunga Range, which runs along the Albertine Rift Valley.
Here is also Mount Karisimbi, the highest in the country at mt. 4.507. The central part of Rwanda is occupied mainly by rolling hills, while in the east there is a region of savannas and swamps. After the horrors of the 1994 genocide, the country experienced an extraordinary renaissance and today boasts one of the lowest corruption rates on the continent, the world’s highest percentage of women in government, and the Umuganda tradition, which sees Rwandans dedicate the third Saturday of each month to community service. The country’s economic growth is fueled by agriculture and a constantly developing tourism sector. In the famous Volcanoes National Park, where primatologist Dian Fosse has studied mountain gorillas for almost twenty years, it is possible to observe up close some accustomed groups of these primates. Further south, in the rainforests of Nung Rwanda however is not just adventure, gorilla trekking and hiking in the mountains.
