Where is Silicon Valley? – Silicon Valley is an economic large urban agglomeration, in which more than half of the technical and scientific potential in the electronics industry is concentrated. It is located on the California peninsula of San Francisco and stretches from west to east.

Its name was derived from the chemical element of silicon, which is widely used in the production of semiconductor devices. Valley is not marked on geographical maps and has no boundaries. At present, this term is commonly referred to as the financial zone, in which the major cities of Palo Alto, San Jose, Sunnyvale, Los Altos, Santa Clara are concentrated. This word combination first appeared in 1971 thanks to journalist Don Hoffler.
