From the harbor, the scenic drive leads to idyllic Camden, a centrally located city in New England, and finally on to Camden Hills State Park.

You have plenty of time to explore the Park on your own. The most characteristic spot is the vantage point high up on Mount Battie, with sweeping views of Camden, Penobscot Bay and the surrounding islands. On clear days you can see Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park. The panoramic view of Mount Battie once inspired Edna St. Vincent Millay to write the lyric cycle “Renascence” (rebirth) and continues to amaze visitors today. Mount Megunticook, the highest mountain in the Camden Hills, can be climbed via a moderate footpath. Many other hiking opportunities, which the Park has in abundance, are well mapped.
