In the Victorian mansion in Hartford, Mark Twain (1835-1910) wrote, among other things, his world successes about the adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn.
Harriet Beecher Stowe (1811-1896), author of the Anti-slavery classic “Uncle Tom’s cabin”, lived in the next House. Both buildings illustrate the lifestyle of their former owners with furniture and memorabilia.
