Where is Ouahigouya Located?

The African partner city is located on the edge of the Sahel zone in the north of the landlocked state of Burkina Faso, the former Upper Volta. This country is one of the poorest countries in the world and today has about 10 million inhabitants with a comparable area to the Federal Republic.

The twinned town itself has 55,000 inhabitants, who live primarily on agriculture and trade. Ouahigouya is the capital of the province of Yatenga, the mighty kingdom of Mossi in former Times.
