Flag of Haiti

The Republic of Haiti includes the western part of the island of Haiti or Hispaniola, (anc. Santo Domingo), corresponding to the former French colony.

It consists mainly of the northwest Peninsula, the southwest peninsula and the Artibonite plain . It has an area of 27,750 km2 and an estimated population of 8.3 million (2006). Capital : Port-au-Prince.
