Flag of Czech Republic

The Czech Republic or the Czech Republic is a central European state, located between Germany, Poland, Slovakia and Austria.

With an area of 78.866 km2, it is the meeting place of the historical Bohemia and Moravia; between 1918 and 1993, its territory constituted the western part of Czechoslovakia. It is a parliamentary democracy, divided administratively into 13 regions (kraje, singular: kraj), to which is added the capital city (hlavni mesto), Prague. Apart from Prague, the major cities are : Brno (anc. Brünn), Ostrava, Plzen and Olomouc. Total Population : 10.2 million (2009).
