Where is Transnistria Located?

Transnistria is located between Bessarabia (the rest of Moldova) and Ukraine. It has approximately 411 kilometers of border with Moldova and another 405 with Ukraine. Its territory is located in a narrow valley through which the Dniester River flows. Tiraspol, the capital and largest city of Transnistria, has about 160,000 inhabitants.

The vast majority of the territory controlled by Transnistria coincides with the eastern (left) bank of the Dniester River.
