Where is The Ringling?
The Ringling museums are a legacy of John Ringling (1866-1936), a successful businessman of his time. He was not only a Partner of the well-known Ringling Bros.
And Barnum & Bailey Circus, but also did other business and was a cultural Baron with a great passion for collecting. In Sarasota he acquired large estates to build his winter residence and winter quarters for the circus. What remains are the winter residence and the art collection in a Renaissance-style Villa with friezes, fountains, vaults and columns. The museum collections today include The Art Gallery, a circus museum, gardens and the so-called Ca‘ d’zan.
