In the fifteenth century the district of Tetouan, was a lordship of the nobility.
One part was covered with orchards and another, the Dehesa de Amaniel, was a pasture for the flocks of the different lords who owned the land.

In May 1860, after the War in Africa, ODonell’s victorious army headed for Madrid after conquering the Moroccan city of Tetouan. They decide to camp for a while at the gates of the city.The people of Madrid and its surroundings flock by the thousands. Some to congratulate their soldiers, others to sell their goods.
